Gay Men & Nudism

A topic which can be quite divisive amongst the naturist communities is, "Whether gay sexualise naturism?".

There are many complaints heard all the time nowadays and more so where people complain about male homosexual acts at clothing optional beaches and typically, deliberately in the view of other people.

Now this blog entry is not out to demonise homosexuals in any way but to raise the discussion. This blog has been encouraged by the video below by a homosexual man who raises the issue of gays bastardising naturism with sexuality.

Watch the video first and then feel free to comment.

Setting up the Seasonal Bush

Ahh yes, it's that time of year where the Bah Humbug Bush is erected and who likes the job more than the children do?

After a sweep, vacuum and a mop of the floor, out came the box. After separating the branches by its colour coding, I set the children to work after showing them how to attach them. The photo above is the first half and I have found it easier it attach all the branches before the top half of the trunk.

What I have not shown yet, is the look of the tree with decorations as they are being made instead of bought. Most of them are made and now on the tree but some are still coming along. I am even making one of them myself. Hmm, maybe I should make a naked snowman or maybe Santa. LOL

All the children enjoyed themselves and now the youngest three are very much looking forward to the day now that presents have started to appear underneath. They will only open presents from Santa and my mother  on Christmas Day as my mother-inlaw will be visiting early in January where we will do all the rest of the celebrating including the food.

Is nudity inappropriate in front of children?

Is nudity in front children an appropriate thing to do?

This is a question with a lot of definitions. It would of course depend on the type of activities done when naked for having sex is not something one should do in front of children. Yet non-sexualised nudity, is there anything wrong with it?

My personal point of view is, no. As a parent raising children in a clothing optional household where they get to choose for themselves if they are naked or not, I see them gaining a strong sense of ownership of their own bodies. They see all the shame held by other people and shake their heads at the over sexualised media and wonder what all the big deal is about.

With thanks to 'All Nudist' which is a naturist blog, I found this interesting advice given to a parent on this very matter including bathing;

LINK

Q. "My four-year-old son bathes with either me or his father. He is often in the same room with us while we are getting dressed. At what age might parental nudity be considered inappropriate?"

A. "Your naturally occurring nudity is not a problem -- as long as you, your husband and child are comfortable with it. In fact, it may easily convey an attitude that reduces shame and increases comfort in your son's perception of his own body. A healthy relationship to our bodies begins with liking ourselves and acquiring knowledge about how our bodies work. A natural acceptance, conveyed to our children, can promote their own positive self-image and contributes to self-esteem and the development of healthy adult sexuality.
The time for modesty evolves with the needs and comfort levels of all family members. Certainly, by puberty, and usually pre-puberty, a child's desire for privacy grows. They may even comment on being uncomfortable with nudity in the parent of the opposite sex.
"Sometimes, parents begin to feel uncomfortable with nudity as their opposite sex child grows older. Individuals within families must be accommodated with respect to each other‚s privacy needs as these feelings emerge. But certainly discussions about these issues are wonderful opportunities to develop your own beliefs and philosophy about nudity and how you decide to address it in your family.
"Talk with your partner about the beliefs and attitudes prevalent in your childhood families around nudity. Explore how your respective parents handled this issue and the effects of this on your own development. Talk with other parents to explore their attitudes and beliefs. You might also read the information available at ParentsPlace.com about sex education for young children. Then, continue to develop your own approach to nudity in your family. You are already doing a great job, but your questions indicate that it is time to further develop a shared philosophy for child rearing with your partner.
"From reading your letter, all family members appear comfortable with the nudity involved in bathing together and dressing. No inappropriate sexual boundaries are being crossed, and body education is evolving naturally."

I Had A Dream

I had a dream.  It was a wonderful dream and one that would make an interesting yet positive change in my own personal biased point of view.

There I was, standing at the the counter of a petrol(gas) station paying for my car's petrol. There I was, standing completely naked enjoying the new laws which allowed people go out in public anywhere without having to wear clothes as long as certain behavioural actions were not included.

And I was loving it as I felt happy and free. Free to be who I am without having to hide behind the screen of cottons.

Yet it was only a dream and I went for a drive today to vote and I was hiding within my cottons. It was an excellent dream though.

Keppel Sands

I felt like going on a solo drive this morning so all by myself, I shuffled to the car not knowing where I was going. First off, I headed over to the Rockhampton Showgrounds to see if the Rocky Swap was only on Saturday and yes, it was. I miss it every single year. Then it was over to the dump for the recycling shop only to arrive and find that I forgot to bring my enclosed shoes which you need to walk inside.

So it was off for a drive but where?

I drove off towards Emu Park and found myself quickly deciding to turn left down a road I have not been before to find myself at Keppel Sands. A nice little town that couldn't have any more than 'approx' 500 people. 2006 Census says just over 300 and there's really not been any housing developments to expland the place. There is National Park adjacent so where would you put the homes? And they'd flood too easily anyway as it looks like wetlands.

I parked the car one side of the beach and walked across the sand bar to the right side of the beach pictured above. There were rocks of all sizes from ones you step, rocks you step around, rocks your climb over and sit on and those too big unless you're rather athletic and have rock spider capabilities - which I don't.

I found a spot far away from the view of general society despite there barely being anyone at all and sat, explored a couple of the rock pools without going in too far due to a recent operation on my thigh so must keep wound dry(Grrr)

It was a nice and relaxing time in the sun, the ocean breeze on the bare wombat skin and the craving to fully immerse myself in the rock pool pictured above. Just sit down in the water and relax. Will have to do so once the wound is ready to soak.

I looked through the rock pools be they tiny, small or this above for gorgeous yet uncuddly critters such as the Blue Ringed Octopus. If you see one, you'll know that you just want to touch them but if you do, expect a heart attack in the very near future.

As I walked back to where my clothes were getting a reprieve from my body, I was spotted by a small group of people; 2 men, 1 woman, 1 teenage male and young boy. One fella let out a laugh of surprise and shock yet they obviously didn't care as they set up their chairs only about 30 to 50 metres away from me and cast their rods. The view between us was not blocked and they didn't look over but enjoyed their rod and reel and each others company.

So I laid on the rock and got some rays before donning on the cottons and slowly walked across the sand bar towards the car where I came across small sea snails and a small hermit crab. The ripples along the sand bar can by rather hypnotic.

I found a nice spot to bring my 8" djembe. Sit in the shade and play, connect, trance work, etc. Beautiful.

I'll be back and I'll bring the kids. Here's where I'd love to own a car that can carry all 6 of us instead of being one seat short all the time. Either the missus or the eldest child, a teenager, has to miss out. So if you have a van that has a good body but needs a little mechanical work and you can get it to Rockhampton, there's space for it here.

The beach at Keppel Sands has no surf making it a good place to take little children as you don't have to grip onto them for dear life. Nice and relaxing. Beautiful.

Not Much Doing

I do believe that here in the tropical line of Capricornia the weather has got as cool as it is going to get. Rockhampton is not really a cold place but it does get stinking hot. The lump of earth known as Mount Archer blocks the wind from the coast from cooling Rockhampton down during the blazing tropical heat.

Our alleged 'winter' is typically only lasts a long one week or a two if it's long. Our evenings are not chilly now but the mornings tend to be with the early morning fog. The fog can make the streets look spooky here as the street lights make the mist glow.

Over the past few weeks, not a lot has been happening up here but we have had a fellow naturist drop in for a visit. Dave, on his stay away from Brisbane while on business tripping, gave us the pleasure of his company on both his trips. Amazingly, on both days where Dave flew up, our weather got cold. Is he bringing up the weather for us? LOL

Well, the second catch up was a pizza night but it was a bit cold for naked pizza night. Kinda makes me feel like a total wimp when there are people living in northern Europe who hang about naked during their freezing winters but they do have open saunas and spas. Sounds like the life.

As the weather starts to warm up which you can tell by the difference of the sun in the day air, the want to start heading back out to the beach sounds like a must do activity. Back to the beach and in for a hop. If only we had beaches in Queensland where you can swim in our natural clothing.

ASK AN ACADEMIC: IN THE BUFF

My wife found this website today which has a blurb about a book written by an Academic on being naked hence the book being titled; Nakedness.

"Nudity is our most basic state, yet there are few things that cause the same extreme mixture of titillation and horror. Still, if one looks closely, it’s everywhere. Mass nude weddings with as many as sixty couples take place every year at the Hedonism resort in Jamaica. There’s nude sky diving and nude boxing (so-called “bouncy boxing”) in Australia, nude skiers in Austria (brr), nude synchronized swimming in Spain, strip poker, naked flights (no hot drinks are served, to prevent scalding), organized nudism, anarchic streaking, Janet Jackson at the Super Bowl. Why does donning the birthday suit get us in such a tizzy? I recently wrote to Philip Carr-Gomm, a psychotherapist, writer, and author of “A Brief History of Nakedness,” to ask his opinion."

This book continues by relating to the history of being naked such the Druids who are one of hundreds of cultures who have being unclothed as part of ritual of some kind;

"In Wicca, and to a lesser extent in Druidism, worshiping "skyclad" (i.e. clothed only with the sky) is used as a way of getting closer to Nature and to Deity. One might think that conventional religion, in contrast to these modern pagan approaches, would shun nakedness. But in reality there are numerous examples of religious leaders using nakedness to engender mystical states or get closer to God. The first third of my book focusses on this largely unknown history: looking in particular at the way nakedness has been used not only in classical Paganism and its modern revivals, but also in Hinduism, Jainism, and most remarkable of all, Christianity. I finish this part of the book with a quotation from Dolly Parton which nicely unites Pantheistic and Christian themes: “Sometimes I like to run naked in the moonlight and the wind, on a little trail behind our house, when the honeysuckle blooms. It's a feeling of freedom, so close to God and nature.”

Yet why are we so paranoid and fearful of wearing no clothes?

This book, 'Nakedness' is a book that looks very interesting to read as it sets out to explore and tackle these questions. Both my wife and I are interested in getting a copy of this book. Looks like it could be a winner.

Been Busy

G'day everyone.

Looks like it has been just over a month since I last posted anything though I have been busy and distracted. The weather is cooling down in the nights and the early mornings. I come out to the loungeroom this morning to see all but the eldest child wearing clothes to keep warm. The eldest, well, she sat there reading her book unclothed feeling better without the wearing of cottons but she snuggled in quickly to warm up once I sat down.

Not a lot has been happening. The usual day to day routines I'm afraid.

My other activities are related to my involvement with Toastmasters International. I am currently the President of my club. The term ends at the end of June so I am tying up loose ends so that the incoming club executive isn't left with unnecessary unfinished business.

I went away for the Labour Day long weekend, the first weekend of May. There was a Toastmasters District Convention at Caloundra which is situated on the Sunshine Coast above the Greater Brisbane region. Say, a couple hours drive north of Brisbane.

At first I thought I was going to be staying in my kids tent, pitched in somebody's backyard but at the end of the week, I was offered a room in a unit/flat by another Toastmasters member. I took up the offer which was a Penthouse with panoramic views of the ocean, valley and the Glasshouse Mountains. It was fantastic, helped by having excellent hosts who I must say, spoilt me.

With my Toastmasters involvement, the end of June will see the end of my term as a Club President but the beginning of July will see me as the 2010-2011 Area 4 Governor. You see, the clubs come together to form an Area. Areas form a Division. Divisions form a District. Districts form a Region. Regions form International(the World).

This will see me travel a little bit around this region here and outside it a little. There are few naturist venues here. Well, they never seem to be where I want them to be. I like socialising with my fellow Toastmasterians(sic), but I would like to meet up with other naturists as well. But as people grow more fearful and paranoid of being viewed as a sex offender as we grow ever fearful of our bodies yet endorse photos of young teens in sexual poses, it appears that meeting up with others outside of an exclusive club is getting harder and harder.

Enjoy yourselves and stay naked!

Making Children Out As Paedophiles

Protecting children is of the utmost importance be it emotional, physical or sexual violence. Children are innocent and sadly, find themselves surrounded by things which removes their ability to remain innocent at a young age, committed by a society intent on destroying anything and everything which made society a workable community.

Being naturist parents, we are mindful of those in the clothed communities who pry on children be it for their self gratification of sex, religion or some ideology. So when I read news articles that talks about matters such as politicians wanting to see teenagers convicted as paedophiles for 'sexting' where they send a photo of themselves or others of their own age group, I do feel annoyed, which is why it is important to weed out those groups who portray themselves as naturists to lure young people into sex.

We teach our eldest who is in her early teen years that she is definitely not allowed to send photos of other people who are naked(partially & fully) and to think very carefully before sending any photos of herself due to themselves due to how other people respond in this world where the naked form is treated as a worse offence than selling drugs to children. How sad it is that they discussing nudity and children will upset more people than discussing drugs and children.

To the parents out there, if one of your children decided to send a photo of themselves partly/fully naked be it a sexual pose or just a naturist style naked photo, would you be happy with them facing a life where they are viewed as child sex offender?

Unfortunately, this is the point taken by the Australian Labor Party which is self proclaimed as a 'progressive' political party yet are highly influenced by the Christian Lobby Group who decry anything non-Christian as evil, anything that isn't fully covered as sinful, etc. There is certainly nothing 'progressive' about these two groups. Regressive and repressive are two term which would better suit them.

Courier Mail article

"It has sparked the Australian Privacy Foundation to lobby Mr O'Connor to rule out charging youth for sexting, and not follow US moves, where prosecutors want to charge a teenager with child pornography offences for appearing topless in a text message.
"Several problems emerge from lumping sexting teens into the same category as depraved criminals who inflict harm on minors (and) . . . the most obvious (being) teenagers engaged in sexting are not knowingly harming minors in the same way that traditional child pornographers do," the foundation said in a submission to the inquiry.
"The Queensland Police Service has issued a "number of formal cautions" for sexting under the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act."
An issue which I will raise and relate to this, is that in Australia, we do not have any judicial right to privacy. There is no law guaranteeing our privacy and anybody can take photos of you in your backyard and display them on the internet, in books, in the media. Yet share such a photo in privacy with a boyfriend/girlfriend and a teenager is at serious risk of losing complete control of their lives for the sake of patting the repressive minds of fundamentalists who view the sight of skin as pure evil.

Beach Day Out

Yesterday I took my children for a drive to the beach around lunch time. After choosing the beach, we ate our lunch then left the kids to play with the sand and their buckets as I took photos of them. They remained dressed in the sun while waiting for the time to come and hop in the crashing waves where the ocean meets the land.

When it was almost time to relax in the surf, it was home school lesson time where I showed them how the water moves up the ground only to go back underneath the incoming waves, calling it an undertow and that it is dangerous when the undertow is strong with the ability to pull you down under the water surface and drown you. They learned about how the high tide brings with sea life, leaving remnants behind such as empty shells and seaweed. They were shown how to tell where the tide comes up to. It is important that the children learn that we are all part of the environment, not above it.

When the home schooling lesson was finished, swim time was announced and off came their clothes.

Being a naturist and going skinny dipping does not mean that one should risk sun burn equally as much as those who wear their swimmers. After all, what we wear in water only covers a small amount of our bodies. Sunscreen is also important so don't neglect it or, if you forget the sunscreen like we did, only have a short amount of time in the water.

My youngest two currently aged 6 and 5 years old, were introduced to swimming naked. We have had no real access to swimming for several years so this was basically a first of them away from the odd public swimming pool where the wearing of bathers is required.

Going out to the waves and experiencing the crash of water as it pushed its way past us was a lot of fun for the kids and a lot of fun for me as their father. My eldest two currently aged 12 and 8 years old have had several chances to swim in the beach. My second eldest enjoyed her first skinny dip at an Inlet at the Gold Coast, Queensland. I found it very interesting and excellent that within 10 minutes of my daughter started swimming naked, then aged 7 years old, a small handful of parents undressed their children so they too could swim naked. Every single one of them looking happier for it while their were heard to saying how they wish they could hop in naked too.

Back to yesterday, the surf was perfect for young children as the waves were continuous yet not over powering. Important for children not use to the surf. They had a lot of fun swimming minus their clothes and can't wait to go back for their turn of skinny dipping.

Seriously, why wear those anchors round your body when you can swim naturally without the worry of your swimmers coming off in the water or having to suit the material. Your body suits you. It's natural. Love it!

Dear Neighbour

Everybody at some time has one of those neighbours you wish you could stuff into a box, slap on an International postage stamp by Sea Mail and say, 'Ta ta' too. We have one of those right next door to us who obviously needs more to do in her life. This letter to the neighbour is dedicated to all of us who have to deal with such people whose lives are so empty, they need to suck the life out of others.

Dear Neighbour,

I am writing this letter to you as I see you watching me, seeking for something to offend you so you can pick up your phone and send the police out on yet another trip which takes them away from going after those who are actually breaking the law. Yes, I am talking to you.

The first time you rang the police was when I took photos of my children on my moped. When you rang the police, you did not tell them about the photos I took off them as their bodies were covered in clothing but when the children removed their clothes and asked for photos taken of them on my moped while naked, well, this got you riled up, didn't it?

When the police officers knocked on my front door asking to see the photos, I showed them happily. In fact, I offered to show them before they got the chance to ask. When I showed the police officer the photos, I showed him the photos of my children both clothed and naked. When he asked why I was showing him the photos of the children clothed, I replied that it was because they were also the photos I took of them. No police action was taken because there was and still is, nothing illegal committed.

What happened to you that made you so frustrated? Was it organised religion? Was it something else that made you judgmental where you would openly question other neighbours who, to you, were far below your level of superior morality?

What is it that offends you when you see little children who were at the time, too young to attend school, naked in the backyard while playing? Surely there isn't anything sexual about a 3 or 4 year old running around the backyard letting off all that energy while naked?

On this night, as I stood at the washing machine under the house putting in the clothes needing to be washed, I heard from your direction a noise. I turned and saw you sitting on your front door step watching me while under the house. Were daylight, your vision would have been minimal but due to it being night time and I had the light on so I could see, you would have seen me through the fencing barrier surrounding the area directly underneath the house I live in.

Yes, I suppose you felt highly offended when I removed all my clothing and put them in the washing machine. After having police turn up because you saw me naked in my backyard on a dark night at 3am, I won't be surprised if you ring the police again for being naked under the house. Please note that should you have the police on my door for this, then I will most definitely raise that you had to be spying, peeping under the house late at night and for this, I will demand that you be charged for whatever the relevant crime is.

I would prefer though that you find a hobby that distracts you from moralising the whole street via your favourite tool, the police. Maybe that would be too hard for you though. You could distract yourself by moralising your own family where your adult aged children have sex in the backyard during the day for all to see or, maybe jump on the drug taking.

To all the neighbours like you and including yourself, you're missing out on far too much in life by shoving your unwanted nose into other peoples business. Go out and enjoy life instead of having to find something that offends you. You'll be happier for it!

You're Elected to Gov't - Name one of your 1st changes

You are elected to govern. It's your first and you have no political experience and you really want to make changes. To do this, you understand that to create a change in society which you wish to see, you must make changes that would otherwise be viewed as too little to bother about and not important. You understand that by tipping one domino, you move the others along, or by removing or shifting one support post, you can completely shift the structure you are seeking to change.

What would be one of your changes?

For me, I would like to see my nation's community grow to be at ease with their body which should natural, not as this evil naughty thing about to pounce and destroy us all. Many people would aim at stopping the media from portraying people, women and girls, in particular but isn't that just more government interference in our lives as they spread their censorship laws?

No, the answer is simple.

The answer, my friends(see, I'm already talking like a politician) is to make most beaches 'Clothing Optional'. There would be beach locations for those who fear spotting a bit of genitalia scattered around the coastline.

As people become more use to seeing bodies, society would become less hung up. It would not be the best policy for the industries of media, entertainment and religion. People would learn that we do actually come in all shapes and sizes and forms. Society would learn that being naked does not mean that we must have sex.

In the end, we become more relaxed and at ease with ourselves and those around us. Where ever that may be.

Get Naked!

How to Have Fun in the Rain!

How can one have fun in the rain?

Play in the rain and have loads of fun. Jump in Mother Nature' pool kindly donated and placed anywhere she likes such as your backyard like we have in ours.

It is such a great way to enjoy life!

In The Rain

It felt so good.

After feeling the temperature in the house rise and our bodies began to sweat as the sky grew darker, down came the rain from the sky. My 8 year old daughter and I decided to head out the backyard to check out the rainfall.

It wasn't a heavy rainfall but it was enough for us, father and daughter to stand in the rain together as the healing rain washed our bodies clean and made us cool. The trampoline was looking inviting so I lay down on it. My daughter climbed up beside me and joined me as the rain fell on us.

There way lay, soaking wet and feeling refreshed as talked about the rain, how good it felt to be outside in the rain. How annoying it is to wear clothes in the rain as they get heavy and sticky. Yes, only in raw in the rain is the way to go as the rain washes your body clean.

We don't even need a shower now as the rain cleansed us. Being in the rain cleanses you not only by washing your skin, it is healing as the water, being a healer of emotion, balances us.

Yes, the rain is gorgeous. I could have slept on that trampoline in the rain.

Rain Play

It is currently raining outside as the wet season starts to move. It's late but better late than never and what could be better than sending your children outside to play in the rain?

Our children enjoy playing outside in the rain and they love playing in the rain while naked. It is easier for them to run and splash around without the confines of rain soaked cottons weighing their bodies down. Naked rain play is so much healthier than getting soaked clothes as clothing holds all the moisture and the coldness to your body. Not good when this cold is being held to your chest so take off that clothing and allow the water to run down your body, instead of holding it to your body.

Jumping in puddles, swimming, running in the rain is always best when done naked so take off that restrictive clothing and remember, don't limit this fun to the children.

What Could We Do While Naked?

What are the things we could do while naked? Or, what is it you wish you could do while naked?

I know what my 8 year old daughter wishes for. She wishes to live in a town where everybody can decide if they wear clothes or not no matter where they go. This includes a school where all the children could attend school without the restrictions of clothing because it's far more comfortable for her and, on the hope that it would stop kids from picking on other kids for their bodies.

My two eldest children both want to go to a naturist site for a holiday where children can go. There is one a few hours drive north of where I live which I plan to get them too something in 2010. Book one of their caravan ahead of time and see what happens.

Personally, I'd love to go for a nice long drive at night through the country side, stopping only for petrol, food, a stretch and the toilet without the need to cover up. Imagine that.

So what would you do naked that you can't normally do naked?

Article: Naturism - Family & Children

For this post, I have added a copy of an article I wrote for the 'Australian Sun and Health'(ASH) magazine. ASH is an Australian naturist magazine which I find is best for family naturists which is why I sent the article to them. It was published in their magazine; Issue 10(Summer 2008) - page 12.

Naturism - Family & Children

Growing up as a child, it was a common to see children up to 8 years old playing at the beach naked. Nobody cared then as it was seen as natural for children to run about the beach minus their cotton wrappings. Even as a teenager in the 1980’s this was still a common sight to see but sadly, not any more.

Social conservatism has taken such a stranglehold on society that nudity has become something to be feared. Even the vision of a dog’s genitalia captured by camera is censored for television. I never realised just how insanely conservative we as a nation have become until I saw a warning of sex scenes before an animal documentary began.

As a parent, I would like to see my children grow up understanding that life around them is natural, including nudity and sex. We allow our four young children to be clothed or naked as they wish so that they learn not only that their body is natural and something to be cherished, but also to develop an ownership of their body. Forcing a child to be undressed is equally dangerous as forcing a child to keep all their gear on. Allowing a child to have this decision making process is the very tool a child needs to acquire in order to see that they, and only they, are in charge of their bodies. Not the churches, not the governments, not the parents, or fashion industries. Only they own their body and hold ownership of the decision making about what they do with their body.

I also believe that by instilling such a private ownership of the body amongst children from a young age, the market forces of fashion, entertainment industry and others have little control over the emotions of children. Both my 11 and 7 year old daughters are a living example of this as they see children in their own age groups being ashamed of their bodies. When my second eldest was in grade 1 last year, they were being a read a story about a man who loses his pants. This made all but a few children cover their eyes at just the thought of nudity.

My eldest is currently in grade 6 here in Queensland. She told me that she is glad that she and her siblings are raised in a nudist household. When I asked her why, she had two reasons. One being sad about those around her at the tender ages of 10 and 11 years old are ashamed of their bodies for they believe that they are ugly and fat. Only those on the tv, magazines and movies are attractive. With these bags of bones being the “standard” of good looking bodies, the natural bodies these children have are felt as ugly, unattractive and unhealthy. Seriously folks, what are we doing to our children when they come home from school, holding fears of dying from eating a piece of cake?

Unfortunately we don’t have any legal nudist beaches in Central Queensland. At the time of writing, Queensland has no legal beaches, which is a shame, as taking children to such a beach would be good for them. I once took my eldest child to a nudist beach near Byron Bay while driving from Sydney to Brisbane. She was 8 years old then and asked me if I could take her to one, so I did. She loved it and wants to go again. My second eldest, who is now 7, has also asked me to take her to a nudist beach or somewhere nudist families gather. There is no such place here in Rockhampton. On talking with other parents who raise their children in a clothing optional household, I found that we nudists have also fallen for the fear of pedophilia. We as a society have decided that instead of correctly punishing child sex offenders, we should cover up our children, denying them the development of self ownership. As a society, and sadly many of us in the naturist communities, we are ignoring the growing violence and sexualised nudity in our media.

It is my belief that we, as Australia’s naturist communities, must take charge of correcting such an evil outlook on life. Yes, I said ‘evil’, for society is twisting the minds of children to grow up in angst, to be scared of life around them, and to feel ashamed of themselves. I place a large share of the blame for this mentality on organised religion for brainwashing people into being fearful of the body, of sex, and of the natural states of life in general, so they could control us. Religions do it. Governments do it. It is our role to first teach our children how to use their own mind, to own their self and take responsibility for their own actions in life.

We must take the lead in teaching that the body is not wrong, just as it is wrong to portray the body solely as the vessel of sex. We must teach by example that the body is good that it is natural, and it is to be loved.

Journey of a Naked Wombat

Were you one of those people who discovered the pleasure of no clothing as a child?

I grew up as one of those latch key kids where there was nobody around to help you get ready for school and being there for you when after school. Get up and prepare for school from eating breakfast to making school lunch and getting myself off from the age of 9 or 10 years old. While this is not for most children, it was something which I preferred as I was never a child who liked most people. I preferred socialising with the pet dog and cat as well as the ants, trees and so on.

My typical after school routine was to come home, have a shower and an afternoon snack while watching the tv. Possibly do some homework, get myself dinner that was in the crockpot(slow cooker), watch tv shows like Benny Hill which I understood the context of then off to bed. It was on one particular day that my routine changed.

On one afternoon, I had my shower and felt too tired to get dressed so I rested on the lounge with my snack and watched tv minus any clothing. After my Warner Brother Cartoons or whatever it was I watched, I realised that I really enjoyed being naked so I opted for a swim in our pool to see if I liked doing that while naked too. In I went and I loved it. This very quickly became my after school routine.

My mother came home early one day to find me laying about naked and asked me if that was what I usually did so I explained everything to her as well as the swimming. From that time on, the only time I wore swimmers in the pool at home was if we had guests at my mother's request.

When I was in high school, I got a mate to try out skinny dipping. It took a little negotiation with him to try it out by saying that I would stay away from him to settle his fear of homosexual sex. Once he settled in and enjoyed it, he came over regularly to enjoy the benefits of swimming naked and being around the house naked fully knowing that nudity and sex did not always have to go together. He wasn't surprised when on Grade 9 camp which was an actual camp with tents that I walked through the camping ground naked and in the river for a swim. I did get in trouble but by the end of the day, 6 or so of us boys were all soaking in the river while our swimmers were in the bamboo reeds, unknown to the teachers.

When I was in my first year of high school, my mother did suggest going to a nudist resort for a holiday but I refused because I was paranoid that I would be walking around all those lovely females, new to my mind while sporting an uncontrolled erection. If only I knew better. LOL

Now I have a family which is a Clothing Optional household and the children love being allowed to choose if they are dressed or not. Only recently we allowed them to choose if they are dressed or not when we have visitors over who we know and trust.

The benefits for the children have been immense when we look at our 12 and 8 year olds, the eldest two, for they look at the rubbish pushed in the media and they shake their heads instead of feeling pressured to look like an air brushed model. They look at how those of their age at school respond to their bodies and see just how insecure these children, as young as 6 years old feel about their bodies. To feel shame at that age - just what has society done to our children. A commercialised society where even clothing for children as young as 2 if they're female, consists of sexy g-strings, high cut skirts that hugs the hips and more.
