Well, it's that time of year again where millions of people celebrate Christmas including non-Christians. A time for people to get together and enjoy each other's company.
My family are pagan so we don't have a religious reason and we have only just started having Christmas celebrations after a few years without. We're just taking the family aspect of Christmas Day though so that we can have our spiritual celebrations as just that. Spiritual, not pressies.
See the Christmas Tree above? All of those decorations were made by our four children. They did an excellent job. The best Mum and Dad in our home. Well done!
We did not use today to officially celebrate though. Our children opened presents from Santa, from their friends and their Grandmother(father's mother). My wife's mother will be staying with us for about a week in early January where we will be having our official family celebration. Living a distance from all relatives, this is a rare treat for the missus and children.
Being just us, it was relaxing to sit in the best dress sense possible. Nuttin!
Pavlova
I broke open the Pavlova which is an Australian meringue despite some Kiwis trying to steal it from us, named after a Russian Ballet dancer. The fruit topping is up to the maker. Just as long as you like it and usually, good summer fruit.
For dinner, we had baked lamb ribs with baked potatoes and yam. Along with carrot, cabbage and corn cob minus the butter. For me, it was washed down with the tasty Italian beer - Stella Artois.
Hope you all have/had a wonderful Christmas Day or whatever you celebrate as we head towards the New Year, 2011.
