A Birthday Party Weekend

One our children turned nine years old last week but her birthday party was held the following week, this very weekend. All week her and her friend were bursting at the seams to be together for the weekend. Since there is a bit of distance of travel between them, a sleepover was called for and boy, didn't these two girls have a ball of fun.

The birthday preparations started on Friday with the baking of the cakes. Two of them in fact as the cake was to be a two layed caked. The bottom cake was Mud Cake, the top level, Devils Chocolate. An unusual way of making cakes I know but one worth a try. The two different textures and flavours was well taken and the thick fresh cream separating the two made for a great border between the two cakes. Tasty too!

It was an easy cake to make. Just bake up the two cakes and cut them to shape so that the bottom cake is flat and the top cakes as the top corner edges level and all the crusty bits removed. The cakes were cooked a day before the party day so that they can have a sleepover in the fridge to get all moist and sweet and tasty.

The birthday girl was keen to keep checking in on me just to make sure that I wasn't stuffing up her cake and to drool over the floor. As you can see, the rough edges had been removed and an eager young mouth and her tummy were keen to eat the cake. She wanted to eat it then and there. I did have to watch out for the slippery floor created from all that saliva of hers as it flooded the kitchen floor.

With her friend over and much fun had. After putting on a play for us which was a rather funny version of Cinderella, after watching them change into so many clothes, enough to make me think that I should get her to do the next load of clothes washing. We headed up the road to Nandos for her birthday dinner. A good selection she did make. I love Nandos!

The children ate a family feast of chicken pieces seasoned with Lemon & Herb. I took a taste and it was yummy. I went for my own plate though where I got a delicious serving of flame grilled chicken with extra hot Peri Peri sauce with a Corona Extra, stuffed with a slice of lime. Such a yummy dinner.

After a delicious dinner, it was back home for our new nine year old daughter to rip open her presents. A very pleased young lady; anime, manga, water colour art set(paints), movies, etc. Not to forget the cash in a birthday card from one of her Grandmothers. It was a really good day.

Day 2 and the girls continue to have fun. Watch one of the new movies, practice with the make up set and a play outside in the rain. Our visitor threw on one my daughter's swimmers to be in the rain. The trampoline makes for a good wet weather playground.

Yes, it is possible to have fun with your clothes on. Our daughter's friend is not from a naturist family so it was clothes on for us but the little kids had their own personal choice. While the girls were outside in the rain as my wife and I sat in the computer room, we get a visit from our now 9 year old who proudly boasts about her friend giving naked play in the rain a go. Yes, our daughter is going to be an influential activist. LOL

It was a brilliant weekend but I must admit that once our visitor had left to go home, I became a free man once again and peeled off my clothes for I hated the feeling of hiding, the need to close the bedroom door to get dried. I sure did feel as if I was hiding from something to be ashamed about. Nothing to be ashamed of though.

Happy 9th Birthday, Gorgeous!
