Happy Nude Year 2011

It's the first of January, 2011 and my very first blog post for the new year.

I pretty much slept through the evening after dinner, right through to just before midnight and in time to hear fireworks. Now here in Rockhampton, I there don't do anything to celebrate New Year's Eve accept at pubs and clubs. No real family events about sadly as people just don't want to go if there is no booze about.

And now with the flooding well and truly heading into Rockhampton, the airport closed as of today and all access from the west and southern directions, as the riverbank is full of water and heading to street level, there couldn't be any public celebrations on the streets anyway

This morning, I headed to the new housing development in the Gracemere Heights district to look at the water over cattle grazing land approaching the railway line. That water you can see in the background on the right is usually either brown or green grass depending on the season. When the water resides, they'll be lucky for any grass left. A lot of cattle across the State of Queensland will be dependent on hay feeds delivered from down south.

As this new year of 2011 begins, only all the best could be sent to those affect by the floods across Central Queensland covering an area larger than France and the UK together.

Towns west and south of Rockhampton such as Kabra, Marmor and Gracemere will soon be cut off. Most likely sometime today.

May this year be a drier year but not too dry.
