House Hunting ---> Renting Sucks!

Yeppoon - Ariel photo

I really do not like renting a home to live in but as we're not in the market to buy a home, it's renting or being on the streets. This week, we received a letter from the real estate agent that our landlord wants 'Vacant Possession' of the house for renovations. We have two months to find a new home.

We headed down to Yeppoon on Friday which is small/medium and tidy coastal town. There was a unit we applied for very close to the beach but have decided to withdraw our application because we need storage for the kids stuff like bicycle and our BBQ.

Important positives in looking for a home beside affordability, is easy yard maintainance or if a unit, a lockable garage to store the bicycles, etc. A large or difficult yard to maintain with plants and mowing is out of the question for me as mowing and most yard work gives me tremors. I only use to need a short nap afterwards but now it gives me tremors.

The home also needs to be child friendly. The first house we looked at was nice but had a very rotted staircase leading to an outside door that bent and the cracks split wide when on them, the drop down to the storm run off from the mountain behind had no fencing and there was nowhere to secure the washing machine, mower, bikes, etc.

As naturists living a clothing optional home, privacy is also important!

The competition is fierce though and so it may be a fight for a home.
